As I wind down this first year I wanted to revisit certain themes from the earliest TOACM comics which resulted in this strip. In a similar fashion to January's "Call of Duty Revisited" I found myself working and working a series of panels over and over again only to realize that just one of them really spoke to me and seemed to carry the weight of what I was trying to convey.
Also of note, I inked about 80-90% of this strip with a brush--a TOACM first. Only the panel boarders and background buildings were inked with Micron pens.

Lamont Cranston? The Shadow?
@BRYAN: The one and the same. I wanted to add this little homage in for a while now. I frequently listen to The Shadow old time radio shows while producing my TOACM comics.
Yeah, Lamont Cranston! Go to the master for some real methodology right!
Page looks great, Denver.
Neat!
The brushwork looks good! They are pretty tough to master.
@JERRY: Indeed. I’m partially inspired by my friend and fellow Ann Arbor cartoonist Chad Sell as far as using more brushwork. It’s hard to argue the quality of linework.
@KEATH: Wow! I’m a fan of Schultz so this is a compliment I’ll easily take! Your favorite strip thus far? Cool!
Love the brush work – especially the shadows under the brick ledge. Looks very Charles Schultz-esque.
Also, this is my favorite strip you’ve done so far
diggin the brush look man, looks good!
It’s similar to Schulz in that he’s sleeping on a rooftop (much like a certain beagle).
@Keath Realy?! Have you not read those wonderful stories featuring yours truly
Now that would make a great poster. Love the pigeon on his head.
It SAYS “Advanced Methods…”, but I suspect this is only the third edition from the early 80′s. The updated 4th edition has sections on DNA analysis and the internet.
Actually, I believe this was written by Lamont’s less famous cousin, Larry Cranston, who took advantage of the family name to have a successful, albeit less exciting, career writing dry sleep-inducing criminology textbooks. His tagline was “Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? Larry knows, and will cover it in chapters 1 through 6!”
