You all probably know this week's Fan-Art Friday artist from his syndicated comic strip Dog Eat Doug -- the charming tale of a puppy and its family. As much as I love DeD, I always find it fascinating to see what else an artist can do too. Most people assume that if you draw simple, funny pics that's all you can do, but using Brian as a case in point, he obviously is capable of something much more...

Of all the fan-art of the Checkered Man I've received thus far this one of the most "comic book-y" yet. Meaning that it closest resembles the sculpted exaggerated anatomy one would find in a typical issue of X-Men or Batman and I love it! I've waited well over a year to see someone approach our hero from this unique perspective. I love the thick atmosphere with the swirling mist, pools of black and the subtle checkered pattern in the background! Thanks Brian!
