UPDATED: This comic kept nagging at me, and eventually I had to give in. I have posted a new, updated version edited to meet my expectations of quality. Thank you to everyone who gave their honest criticism, which helped me point out the many flaws in the original version. Enjoy (again)!
Sorry for the late post folks, but this one was a doosy! I'm glad I took the extra time too rather that just rush it to post. Sure, I'm sure I could edit the newscaster's text 'til the cows come home, but at some point a person can be too fussy! I hope you enjoy.
Robert (Bob) Bobly is the name of this newscaster fellow. He's a character I've had rolling around in the back of my head for years now and I'm happy to finally introduce him into the strip even if it is by ripping off the storytelling technique most popularly known from Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns. We're going to see more of Bob popping up from time to time as he reports to us on various news from Exotic City. Stay tuned!

Rob Bobly…LOL! Ok, Admit to being confused in the last panel. CM says “me?” Is he seeing himself in something? Does that sign say “Exotic Time?” I can’t really read it.
Good point Tom…
Talking heads are okay if you don’t abuse them. At least it allows for some exposition and background info.
I wish you had the newscaster’s expression change a little. Having the same picture copied 5 times reminds me too much of the junk they pull on Invincible.
But other than that, good comic.
Agreed. I addressed this concern in my updated version of the comic! Thanks for your suggestion!
You can get away with a rip-off if you call it an homage.
D’oh! I shouldn’t have given myself away then!
I’ve done the same myself. Although, he hasn’t featured in a while. News Anchor, Sandy Sanford of PBC News. Peesingdon Broadcasting Company.
Sanford named after John Sanford. I like to slip in names of people I admire. Also friends and family names. Who knows a Brubaker could right around the corner…
Great post.
ROLFE
Much better, dude! I think removing the distractions on the buildings in the last panel was also a good move. This now reads perfectly. Good job!
Thanks, buddy! I’m happy w/ the results too!
Kinda unsettling how he smiles in regard to “our beloved hero, Capitol Hill” but frowns as he’s talking about a “masked vigilante”.
