I wish I could produce two of these comics a week so as to keep this story moving faster because I'm really excited for what's in store for our hero and the crew. Some interesting revelations are around the corner as CM and Gus fill us in on the back story leading to them being chased by the ECPD. Just what is going on in Exotic City these days?
If you didn't see the post the other day, I'll mention here again that I have indeed begun (again) collecting the first year's worth of strips into a trade paperback. TALES OF A CHECKERED MAN: BEGINS (vol.1) doesn't have a release date as of yet, but naturally I'll keep you all posted as the project progresses. The collected volume promises to be a different reading experience than if you were to simply go back to the first strip and read through. I'm doing some editing (text, art, rearranging, etc.) to create a more cohesive read. There will even be some brand new artwork never before published online, including brand new TOACM comics! I'm really looking forward to it and I hope you will be too!
The work-in-progress pic of panel 1 of this week's comic showcases one of my most favorite drawing of Joey the Sloth ever! I love that little creep! He's so fun to draw!
Finally, I'd also like to remind you all that the FAN-ART FRIDAY series is still in full gear. I admit, I didn't keep up with it much during the move, but now that I'm getting back into the swing of things I'd really like to see some of your TOACM fan-art! Remember you can submit artwork in any style and/or medium and any experience level! Just have fun with it! Email your fan art to denver[at]thecheckeredman[dot]com! Maybe you'll see your artwork in an upcoming Fan-Art Friday post! Keen!
Until next week,
-Denver!

That’s awesome news about the book collection.
Even though I’ve submitted Fan Art before I’ll do a new piece very soon.
ROLFE
Anytime you eat to draw my bars gets I’m all for it! You always have an open invitation Rolfe!
Love the shot of the gang. Great stuff as always!
Thanks Tom. I had to shoehorn these dipsticks back into the story somehow! :0)
Darn I just love Joey’s design. Every scene he’s in is just a favorite of mine.
The prospect of a paperback collection of strips sounds awesome. I certainly love having physical copies of things I enjoy.
So very tempted to draw some fanart. So veeery tempted….
Do it!
You know you want to take a crack at drawing Joey? :0)
I doooo. And I did. I broke like a cheap vase. So prepare yourself, for within the next few days I will be emailing like 5 fanarts once I get em colored. …There’s…there’s not a limit like, one per submission per person, is there?
LOL! No, there isn’t a limit to how many pieces of fan art you can submit! Bring’m on!
Hee hee, love seeing him hide behind her skirt! So funny.
Gawd, those characters are just so well designed. And the movement and everything is so well done. I love that 1st panel, but the silhouettes in the 2nd are just great. So, so awesome. Can’t wait for the book!
Thanks Jim. That’s a huge compliment, considering how much I love your work!
Awesome! I love Joey the Sloth!
Awesome! I love drawing and writing Joey so it’s nice to hear he has his fans too!
Looking forward to the book!
=o) Me too!
