Once again I apologize for the delay in getting this week’s strip out…thank you for being so patient. I wish I could point the finger at laziness, but the reality of the situation is that this delay was all due to my pickiness. I went through 2-3 drafts of the script (before chopping it in half—the second part to run next week). I penciled this strip four times, and inked two of them…I find these “talky” strips so much more difficult to do. The devil is in the details as they say and I just was never happy with some of the nuance stuff happening in the expressions and body language in all those previous versions. In the end, I hope that I did my job and gave you an entertaining comic strip read.

FOOTNOTES

-Gus indirectly references the Capitol Hill Act in panel 1, which was passed in the wake of the Orb’s attack and Capitol Hill’s demise, that outlaws super-hero activity in Exotic City.

-Gus began looking into the rumors of an “Exotic City Vigilante” way back in TOACM#092 “Hearsay” from 2/22/11 though we only see her hands and fingers. Then again a few strips later in TOACM#098 “John Hancock” from 3/10/11 her arm is seen holding a tape recorder as she interviews Joey “the Sloth”. We then see her in silhouette in TOACM#103 “Final Draft” from 3/29/11 discussing her journalistic investigation.

-Gus calls CM a “blockhead” in panel 1 which is a shout out to the Peanuts gang. Lots of folks say CM reminds them of Charlie Brown if Chuck wore a cape and fought crime.

-The background of panel 5 is an extreme close-up of Capitol Hill’s face from TOACM #076 “American Idol pt.3” from 1/4/2011 (see above).

I’d like to say thank you to Mr. Vince Dorse for taking a look at the strip before I posted it and giving me some feedback. You may remember Vince from his awesome Trick-or-Treat fanart pic back on 10/31 (see it here) or hopefully you are already a reader of his excellent webcomic, Untold Tales of Bigfoot. If you aren't reading this strip, please do so! It’s one of my new favorites! Click on the banner below!

So there you have it. Another week in the can! What are your thoughts about the story thus far? Who is your favorite TOACM character? Who is your least favorite? As always, I’d love to read your comments.

Thanks for reading,

-Denver
