Yeah, Jillian and I saw IM3 this past weekend after hitting up Graham Crackers Comics in the South Loop. Anywho, the COMIC CREATORS MINIGROUP's Art Show theme this past week was Iron Man--click on the thumbnail (or click the perma link/button in the right hand column) to see the full sized image on my sketchbook page!

I'm kinda bummed I didn't take as many pics of the commissioned sketches from C2E2 that I would have liked. So that Yoda decapitating Papa Smurf I drew...gone...sorry folks. However, I did add three pics to the old sketchbook so click on the image below to check them out!
SKETCHBOOK: MARVELS GREATEST BATTLES sketchcards now added!
by Denver on 04/23/2013 atOn the heels of the four previews I was able to post a couple weeks back--I've been given the all-clear to post the entire collection of my sketchcards for the MARVELS GREATEST BATTLES set I most recently contributed to. All 30 two-part puzzle cards have now been added to the new sketchbook page.
Click on the image below or the button in the right hand column to see all thirty sketchcard puzzles!
Back on March 28th Rittenhouse released the images of four of my special double puzzle sketchcards on their Facebook page as a preview for their upcoming MARVEL'S GREATEST BATTLES trading card set. Enjoy!

I am a member of a very fun private Minigroup aong with several of my cartoonists friends like Jeff COuturier, Vince Dorse, Jim Anderson, Tom Dell'Aringa, Steve Ogden, D.M. Rolfe and many more. It's a cool place online where we can talk shop. Last week we started a themed "art show" where we pick a topic/catagory and have a week to draw something to share based on the subject matter. We all enjoyed the experience so much we decided to start a Tumblr page with which to share this work with all you web surfers out there! Our first topic was Batman--my contribution is below...click on the tumbler logo above or the image below to go see everyone else's work!
PS: Next week's topic is Wizard of Oz! Check back in for some awesome new artwork!
In the coming months my friend, and fellow webcomicker Tom Dell'Aringa's comic Marooned (www.maroonedcomic.com) will be wrapping up and the series will be ending after over 5 years! Yowza! That's a heckuva run! As a little tribute and/or farewell gift to our friend Tom, myself and seven other cartoonists pooled our resources and collaborated on a "recreation", if you will, of the Marooned website header featuring eight of the series main characters. All of the artwork was compiled into one image as well as four smaller "two shots". Click on the image below to view the larger picture:
From left to right: Captain John by Denver Brubaker, Zed by Eddie Pittman, She Who Hears by Eric Orchard, Ugo by Jeff Couturier, Bhax by Wouter Goedkoop, Asimov by Steve Ogden, Ril by Jim Anderson, and Lian by Vince Dorse.
Steve compiled the artwork and also created these fun "two shots" [below] that pair up the various characters and turned out really cool! Also, if you're diggin' the look of these characters I encourage you to hop on over to Tom's site and dive into the conclusion of this epic adventure! =o)

Enjoy these two work-in-progress images from the upcoming TOACM #180 "Cold Irons Bound"!

Enjoy these work-in-progress pics from this week's upcoming comic strip!

Now that I’m commuting to and from work on a daily basis I take the opportunity during my train ride to and from work to do some light sketching. From time to time I’ll be sharing these doodles and sketches in a series I like to call, Sketches from the Train.
This week's sketch is of Hurricane Jones, one of Capitol Hill's old allies who made his debut in TOACM in yesterday's comic. This doodle is done with ball point pen on simple copy paper and may be one of the original sketches of the character. Enjoy!

This week's sketch from the train is of JOEY THE SLOTH! For a one-off character, Joey sure has managed to win me over and stick around for a while. I hope you love the bug-eyed twerp as much as I do. Enjoy!
